Topic: Anyone run a (X)Mod(+) UA5 behind their ADKs???

I've been running a regular Oade Digi-Mod behind my ADK A51S LEs.  I love the results, but lately, I've been doing more comps between the UA5 and various other units (like the MP2>SBM1 combo, etc.) and have found that I don't get the same low-end.  Makes my recordings sound thin...

This has made me think about getting a WMod(+) for my UA5...  But all this talk about the TMod(+) has got me interested...

I've DLed the various Oade comps, and right off the bat, I preferred the WMod LSD2 to the TMod LSD2...  But those mics aren't my mics, so I'm wondering if anyone has exp. with ADKs in front of the various mods...

Anyone here use ADKs in front of their UA5, and which mod (if any) do you have and why did you go that way?

I used the stock, W and P-mod UA5's with ADK A51TL's and preferred the W-mod.  P-mod was a bit too bright for my tastes, but I did like the nice dynamics.  Never tried the T-mod.

Sweet, thanks for the input.  I figure my LEs are pretty similar to your TLs...  They are nice and bright already - crisp, clean...  I'm thinking the PMod would make them over-bright.

I'm thinking WMod right now, but I'd like to hear from some ADK>TMod folks...

Terry, the T-mod wouldnt help with your bass response, if anything, it might make your rig sound even more bright.

I would go with the W-mod.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking - the TMod would make my mics sound better in ALL ways...  Not quite what I want I'm thinking...

I'm going to see if I get any more opinions and probably send it off next week...

fwiw..i have a few of craig t's adk tl > w-w=mod ua-5 tapes and they sound fantastic. even have a big wu show that is a/b with the p-mod and the w-mod. i preferred the warm mod, the p mod was in your face but the warm mod just had a smoothness to it that made my ears smile.

i never ran a wmod ua5, but i did run a wmod 410, and i absolutely loved it behind the adk's

I run a pmod w/ TLs and often my shows seem bright to me.  Been thinking about the tmod as well.  Also been thinking I need to aquire some Grace in my life.

I ran wmod and pulled some great tapes.  can't go worng with the wmod.

I found the TL>V2 to be a little bright, but remember, the TLs are bright anyways and the V2 is transparent, so it won't warm the sound any.
then again, maybe it was the SBM-1(stock) that made it seem so bright?

that said, I made some great recordings with the TL>V2>SBM-1 combo!
I will eventually get another set of LDs, though maybe not the TLs, but for the price, they are VERY hard to beat!
