"WD TV" media player with Zoom H2 and Edirol R-44
« on: December 11, 2008, 08:03:33 AM »
Just in case someone wondered, or even cared, the WD TV media player - http://www.cnet.com.au/dvdpvr/0,239035801,339293019,00.htm - will take a USB connection from a Zoom H2 or an Edirol R-44, but not a Sony RH-1, and will then allow you to navigate on TV to the files and play them.  I've not tested it with any other devices yet.

The WD TV connects to a TV via composite or HDMI (or to a monitor using HDMI > DVI adapter cable) and to most USB storage devices.  It scans the device for media files and allows you to play them on the TV or through an amp via the composite audio outputs.

Its usefulness (??!!) in connection with portable recording devices is simply that it allows you to play the media from your armchair with a remote.
