Title: Nickel Creek
Post by: Rick on August 27, 2003, 04:02:43 PM
Anyone recently had any problems with getting gear inside for a Nickel Creek :guitarist: show? Just wondering how good they've been about informing venues.

Thanks!

Caught 'em in Pittsburgh and Cleveland, no problems getting gear in.  If you have a problem, ask for the tour manager - dang, I forget his name.

If you're gonna run up front, keep everything very low profile til the lights go down, otherwise you're likely to get booted to the back of the venue.  They don't like people running up front blocking people's views.  Though they usually play in small enough places that even the back of the venue sounds nice.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info....

keeping low-profile shouldn't be a problem with the MBHOs on a single schoeps shockmount ;) I think I'll use my bogan 3373 stand too.

I had no problems getting gear into their NorVA show (had problems with the tape, though).  I'd recommend getting as close as possible, as every time they do an encore they do it acoustic at the lip of the stage, no amps/speakers at all.

How big was the place? I'm seeing them at a pretty big venue and If they play "unplugged", the people in the back wont be able to hear them. Plus its reserved seating so I'm as close as I can get anyways, 8th row.

Palace of Fine Arts, SF....

The show was sold out, but I think they released some more seats and I picked up 8th row (only goes 20 rows back though)  through ticketmaster.com

If you read the taping policies of a lot of bands that allow taping, you will note that most will state that the band cannot override the venue policy.

Yeah, I kind of figured the people there would not like taping. So I came prepared..... I wasn't surprised.

i was hoping they had a little more weight, like the flecktones in atlanta at the first center.  totally no taping venue, a bunch of calls later, taping ok.

Hey folks - if anyone is considering whether or not to see the opener for the below shows, do it!  I've seen Kathleen Edwards many times and she puts on a fantastic show.

And please, please, hook me up with any recordings!   ;D
There's not much out there and I think the band is peaking right now.

Here's the shows w/Nickel Creek
September 3rd Chico, CA Cedar Grove Park
September 4th San Francisco, CA Palace of Fine Art
September 5th Hanford, CA Fox )
September 6th Los Angeles, CA Wiltern Theatre
September, 7th San Diego, CA San Diego Street Scene - Southwest Airlines Stage
September 22nd Jackson, MS Hal and Mals
September 25th Morehead, KY Morehead University
September 26th Cary, NC Amphitheatre at Regency Park
