Title: Integrated Amp/Headphone Amp - does this work?
Post by: acidjack on November 27, 2017, 01:02:41 PM
I'd like to run the Pre-Out of my Peachtree Nova 150 into a Grace m900 headphone amp.

First, am I correct that the pre-out would work, into the RCA analog inputs of the Grace?

Second, am I really any better off with a standalone headphone amp vs. the included head amp in the Peachtree?

As to your second question, it all depends on what headphones you're using.

I have found that Grace makes a very good headphone amp that will handle most headphones easily. I also found that Peachtree headphone amp to be just OK. However, your ears will tell you whether it is worth it or not. BTW, I also have a very small 9volt  headphone amp that I replaced the op amp in that sounds surprisingly fantastic and was cheaper than a dime store piece of candy. It easily sounds better than many headphone amps I've owned that cost tons more. So, your options may not be just inline with pricier products for a noticeable improvement.
