Define your needs (in terms of size, type of pattern, type of use, power options, types of music and venues)...

At that price point if you want small 007 plug and play and for loud rock in clubs/arenas (though I use them on a pretty wide range of things) I suggest Sound Professionals CMC-25's.  I favor them over other mini-mic options, though tastes vary.

Omnis are less forgiving in bad sounding positions or rooms.

Here's an example of clean sound from a really terrible room (as you'll be able to tell from the announcements in between songs):  FLAC: https://we.tl/nDExL206Uo MP3: https://we.tl/k6o26llfOG

I've been happy with the Countryman b3.

Best option is probably to buy the pigtail version and get someone to add a stereo 1/8" connector to the end (or whatever is going into your battery box). You can run them without the battery box, but I found that only works for quite shows (like non amplified acoustic guitar).

A pair comes in right in your budget (304 euro according to the Googles conversion from USD to Euro):

Think it’s easier to record with omni’s.
You just pin up the mics and are ready to go.
No need to point the mics.
Or am i wrong?

The SP's come with clips.  It matters a little more that you point them parallel and forward but that's fairly forgiving.

My major problem with omnis is the basic character of recording a wide field which just isn't appropriate for a lot of the places we find ourselves in 007 settings.  That is problematic in a crowd full of half-interested drunks, yappers, yelpers, etc. (though even with a restrained crowd many omni recordings are as much the crowd as the music).  It is also not good if you are in a room with a lot of echo or further back, so it's often more the room than the music.  I've also heard substantial phasing from movement in omni recordings when not kept still.

From mounted ideal position in a nice sounding room they're fine but in typical situations it quickly degenerates into a muddy crowd filled mess IMO.

I think it is wise to have both omni and cardioids.
I prefer omni for outdoor shows and usually cardioid for indoor shows. :coolguy:

I'm curious — I've heard this "omnis for outdoor shows" opinion before, but never quite understood the reasoning. In an outdoor space, isn't there usually even more crowd yammering you need to filter out by using something more directional?

Running low pro I have ran both at the same time and talking is no more or less using cards.
