Topic: starting over!!

   Well for unseen reasons had to go back to pc (hate it)..  So i need to know how to put track marks in raw files with audacity.  as well as what is the best program to combine tracks and another to burn to cd.  Completely starting over had my apple for a long time..  oh yah and would if possible like to use free programs

to generate split wav files, two options

Audacity, drop a label at each track break, then export multiple (there's a checkbox to export the region before the first label
CD Wave, shareware with unlimited trial. open a processed wav, mark splits and save. can also save cue sheets.

for burning

CD Burner XP is free, does gapless burning, and works with every cd drive I've ever tried.

Not technically correct. While CDWave is shareware it does not have an unlimited trial. It should be purchased/registered after 31 days. Click "About" for more info on purchasing/registering. I do applaud the author in that after the 31 day free trial period the program is not restricted in any way (no nagging to register or reduced functionality). IMO the program is a bargain at whatever the current price is.

For burning, I like Feurio, which does have an unlimited testing period but I think it is also worth purchasing. Works with Windows 8 too though not listed.

QFT.   A brilliant piece of software (and part of my workflow for years) that's worth EVERY penny (which isn't much).  US$15 is *NOTHING* for what it can do.

It cannot...  I've always used SHNTOOLs to "Join" tracks...  I'm sure there are easier ways, but I'm lazy...

I use Foobar 2000 to listen and tag and it has an option under the "Convert" menu to combine selected tracks to a single output file. I use it when I need to go from a tracked and flac'd file set back to a single file and is very simple.

Has anyone tried editing the cue sheet to combine two tracks? Theoretically it would combine the two tracks into one if you removed a track marker and added the time of the second track to the first. Perhaps I'll try it later today to see if it actually works as envisioned.

addawav is a simple windows program that can merge 2 or more tracks.  I've taken to using foobar2000 for this as well
