Can you run an RME ADC into the DR680 (SPDIF or AES)?

From the long DR680 topic I gather that the DR680 is a bit picky when it comes to its digital connections. I read in one topic:

that Grosse_j succeeded in running his RME UC into into his DR680, SPDIF. So would it be fair to say that any RME digital output would play nice with the DR680? For example the RME ADI-2, the UCX or UFX?

For that matter, I trust that if you feed more than two channels digitally to the DR680 it will complain on account that it can only take two digitial channels, correct?

Regards, Christine
