Sonosax SX-M2 Settings
« on: January 13, 2015, 10:09:47 AM »
This is for a friend who is still using one.

There are three switch settings, "0"  Low  and High

And then two gain knobs without any db information.

I don't know much about the unit, although intuitively I would set the switch to "0"

What should he set the preamp gain knobs for minimal gain, like 10-20db with a Sony M-10?

So far with the Sony at Unity, about 4.5, the knobs seem to work best at about a third of the way up from zero or off.

You want the unit to be on the low setting. low goes from 0-40 db, high goes from 41-76 db. I have one and if you have any questions, shoot me a pm

Confirmed. 0dB is no gain and low/high are as stated by jmerin. You also want to make sure the LF Cut filter is in the up position.

Attaching the user manual and I also took a picture since you said the gain knobs don't have any dB information; I assume they've rubbed off over time.
