I'd like to keep caps in their cases, but I imagine there's some thread wear doing so? And do you all leave 9 volts in the nbox between use? Thanks!

Personally no on the caps, though there is a thread around here where I think DSatz notes with much more precision that an occasional removal can be good to make sure the contacts stay totally clean.

In my nbox days, caps always stayed on collettes and batteries always came out of nbox.  Gaff-tape nbox lid shut instead of using screws.
Just my own preferences.

How I do it.

I have a leather pouch  >:D that the plastic vials stay in with the caps in the vial while attached to the collettes.  That way they don't get banged up.  Gaffer, but I like the screws too.  Besides, think about it.  Get set up, find a spot, roll tape and leave.  Deal with the caps, batteries, and gaffers tape or screws later.
A lot of people run a race to see who is the fastest. I run to see who has the most guts, who can punish himself into exhausting pace, and then at the end, punish himself even more.

I don't leave the batts in the box when not in use. They typically go right back on the charger when I get home from a show.

I don't remove the caps from the cables unless I'm swapping caps. Like taking my mk5's off and putting the 41's on. Since I got a 2nd set of cables this happens far less frequently that it used to however every once in a while I do twist the caps to break the seal so to speak. Just to keep them from getting stuck on the cable. Really just a half a twist so I know they are able to separate if needed.

And an FYI.....  35mm camera film "vials" lined with the proper amount of sticky-backed Velcro is a great way to protect capsules when attached to the collettes.

Caps on, batteries out. I also use a velcro band for the lid. Make sure to unplug the cable even if you take the caps off

Mikes in a hat and stay there.  Actives connected to NBox.  Batteries stay in.

NBox turned off of course

I leave all of my cables connected, except my external battery cables. Just need to charge my USB/RC/AA Batteries and plug them in. Everything else is usually already connected. After festival season I unplug everything and clean it. Simple enough

Do you have an Nbox now? If you're talking about leaving the cables connected to a Naiant product, that's a whole different thing.

Leaving the cable connected to the Nbox will drain the batteries. Both the replaceable 9Vs and the stacked internal 12Vs. Not recommended to leave the cable connected

EDIT: to add to this, I was told by Nick that the batteries could be left in as long as the cable is disconnected. My preference is to remove the batteries as well. But the cable should always be disconnected.

While some of these questions and concerns about cables and the internal and 9v batteries are good, a chat with Nick would be best.  Or, read the team NBox thread--long but some good info and lots of historical info.

Thanks Bill, I'll do that. You guys answered my questions tho. I don't plan on ever using the PFA and the nbox, it's for running into my 661 if the m10 takes a crap.

I had a 661 briefly and ran 4's with the NBob cables and PFAs.  And with the Aerco and M10.  So, good to have the PFAs if you want to try something else or need to.  Amazing to me how flexible the cables are compared to the Schoeps KCY or KC5's.

You'll have fun again I'm sure.

Thanks Bill. Yeah, really looking forward to an easier stealth setup. And lighter, smaller open setup. 4022>661 was doable but not ideal...the cables obviously can't take it and the 661 is great but not quite small enough.

Oops, didn't realize that JohnW. Thanks for the clarification :) I only have a VMS02IB and my 70D as preamps right now. That's what I was talking about when I said I left all my cables hooked up. If I had an NBox, Id just unplug the actives from the NBox between each show and I always remove batteries :)

Marc, you can get some techflex and heatshrink on your Schoeps/NBob actives and they will probably never need re-done again. That techflex can really take a beating ;)
