^^^from the site you linked emphasis mine

"So, you might guess that the DAC has a lot to do with how audio coming out of your computer sounds. It sure does, and we are using one of the best DACS ever made (Burr Brown PCM1792A). It’s awesome, with 129 dB Dynamic Range (A-weighted) and other amazing specs. We're also using a similarly incredible ADC from for MIYO's input  – that's right, you can record with MIYO too!

That thing would probably be pretty lousy for taping, lacking a level meter or knob as far as I can tell...

Looks like it's simply a usb audio i/o -- would need a computer to interface (record/monitor) and as acidjack indicated above, unclear on whether/how you'd adjust for levels.

No, it has (according to the specs page) One 1/8" (3.5mm) unbalanced stereo line-level input
So to set the recording levels you would need a pre-amp with an output/level control.  Using this would be very similar to the way we use to use a Nomad.
Interesting to say the least.

It seems like this would be a lot of hassle for taping.  The way I read it, you have to have it connected to a computer and you also need a box to power the mics (or battery powered mics).  A decent recorder takes the place of the laptop and Miyo and maybe the mic power source, too...

It may be possible to connect it to a mobile device via USB OTG.
Schoeps cmc6/4v / Line Audio CM3, OM1 / ADK A51 / Church Audio CA-14
Naiant Tinybox v2.2 / NBox(P) / Apogee Mini-MP / Church Audio ST9200 / CA-UGLY
Sony PCM-M10 / Tascam DR-70D

Correct, it  will work with mobile devices since it is usb 2.0 class compliant, but you will need to power it from elsewhere ( it draws about 480ma). I'm looking for something like a phone battery case with an extra usb port - does such a thing exist? +6db gain at  the line input not negotiable.
