Mic Power Question
« on: February 28, 2016, 12:54:58 AM »
I am using a set of mics for the first time tonight and I have a quick question.

The specs read "Power Requirements: DC 1.1 V to 10.0V".   I had two of the mics joined together into one 3.5mm stereo plug.  So is the power requirement the same for two mics?  I usually run a 12v battery box and I don't want to over power them, so should I just use the Sony PCM-M10 plug-in power instead?

The mics in question are these :

Thanks 4 UR help.

generally speaking if your mics can handle 10v 12 will be fine as these supplies are unregulated anyway.

It looks like they are designed for the 5V plug-in power that is normally provided by portable recorders.

As 12V is above the recommended voltage I would not risk it - it MAY be OK, but if anything goes wrong it would have invalidated the guarantee.

I agree with John W.--powering specifications in general aren't something to try to negotiate or bargain with; they should be strictly adhered to.
music > microphones > a recorder of some sort
