Checking Battery Juice with a Multimeter?
« on: September 16, 2005, 04:07:18 PM »
Sorry if it's a dumb question, but is there a way to check the amount of power left in a battery using a multimeter?  You are checking for current, not voltage, correct?

Just thought I'd ask!

youd want to check for voltage, which is a v, and also in DC power

you'll simply connect one end of the black multimeter to either plug and the red to the other, doesnt matter which way, it wil.l just read a negative number

Schoeps 250|0 KCY's (x2) ->
Naiant +60v|Low Noise PFA's (x2) ->
DarkTrain Right Angle Stubby XLR's (x3) ->

I thought that voltage was consistent, while current is the facotr that fluctuates?

Sorry if I am way off base here, I am a definite newbie to this.

Thanks Bean.  +t to ya.

no problem, nope, voltages have an operating range, once the voltage gets to a certain low point, BOOM, shuts down, if current fluctuated, youre gear would not be running too consistently at all!

by seeing how much voltage a battery has, you could determine how full it is if you know the batteries well

my 7.2v batts FULL are about 8.1-8.2volts and they start to shut off the v3/jb3 at about the 6.5v mark!~
