Hey,
I am looking for suggestions on replacing a mixer for a club (country, bluegrass, rock etc)... The PA needs a serious overhaul. Right now there is a Mackie CFX 16.
There are frequencies missing when just playing house music/ipod. Not sure if that is the board, speakers (cheap JBL's), snake, or what... but looking for some new gear... thanks for your input!

If the room sounds bad it's most likely not the Mackie CFX 16.
You may need better speakers or just move the current speakers around for better coverage. Or a better system EQ. Or room treatment.
I think it would be best to have someone who installs PA systems come in and look at what you have before you go out to buy another mixer.

The room is reverb-y, definitely needs some treatment (curtains?). the speakers are low end JBL's...not very good.
the main issue is the crackling in the PA. the rest we can get by with right now.

Buy a graphic EQ first. No question. This will probably negate the need for a new console.
Then look at the Allen and Heath ZED series. Lots of good stuff there on the cheap.

There is a Peavy 215F Graphic EQ.

Allen & Heath MixWiz or Presonus Studiolive 16.4.2 would be my choices
