Title: Sonic Studios DSM-6 > PCM-M10 live metal show setup?
Post by: lushka on October 01, 2018, 09:25:11 AM
Greetings!

Did anyone run DSMs directly into an M10 recorder for a metal show, e.g. Sepultura?  Was wondering what levels to run to avoid clipping and excessive bass if any? Should I just use the low cut filter set to 'on' on the recorder or not? Any feedback would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

I would avoid a low cut filter on the deck  try running mics line in, a better way to reduce the boom imho. Low cut in my experience can cause a phasing type sound on the recording as the deck adjusts the sound continually.

He is using the PIP of the M10 as it powers DSM correctly.
I have recorded the melvins with this method and do not try to stack tape.
You should go by the sbd area.
