Great cover of Seal.  Can't think of a band that's ever covered Seal?

I might add this was the maiden voyage with the Panasonic PQ tapes.  No dropouts!  Awesome.

nice work but things look slightly out of focus. Have you tried using the manual focus to get better focus?

Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.

Hells yes Mark! this is looking damn good! If you ever throw together a chaptered dvd let me know (until then im going to try downloading the 1080 versions off youtube). With the cost of these hd cams dropping so low I may have to get into this vid recording here in the near future as well!

Well to me the background is TOO much in focus so it looks like the musicians are RIGHT in front of the bushes which is not the case. you will get the hang of it with practice.

Well since this was shot in outdoor daylight the iris will be closing down making everything in focus, solution is to use a neutral density filter in bright conditions.recommend a 0.9 which is 3 stops.

Could you suggest a link to what you mentioned beatkilla?  I know nothing of filters.   :-\

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=neutral+density+filters&ci=114&N=4294203504

they screw onto the camera in front of your lens. more commonly used in photography because video cameras sometimes have ND filters built in and your activate it by sliding a switch. you have probably seen tv shows where the camera guy is outside and when they walk in, its super dark until a filter is turned off and the iris can readjust.

filters are bought and sold based on the mm of the lens they need to fit so look on your camera to see what mm filter is required for your camera.

but before dropping serious cash on one of these filters, I would play with manual focus more-- try putting things out of focus and back into focus. also just remember this is my opinion so if it looks fine to you, that's all that matters.

I think the canon hv30 is 43mm from memory.a 43mm neutral density filter 0.9 should cost between 25 and 50 dollars,to cover all conditions it would be smaqter to get 2 nds...a 0.9 which is 3 stops and a 1.8 which is 6 stops that should get you that shallow depth of field if thats what your after .
