UA5 User Question: DVD Battery Cable
« on: July 01, 2008, 10:37:07 AM »
so, I lost or misplaced my battery cable for my UA5, Doug Oade says he no longer sells the DVD batteries and does not make the cables needed to run from the battery to the UA5, so my question is this:  if I buy a new DVD battery will it come with a cable that is compatible with the UA5 input jack?  if it does not I guess I am screwed or will have to find someone to build a custom cable, any insight appreciated

you can buy a cable and adapters at radio shack. i believe the ua5 uses the B adapter. remember the polarity is reversed on the ua5.

And, yes, I know I suck about getting stuff circulated.  ;)

I would have absolutely no idea how to build this cable, is this a project for Ed at Kind Kables?

you do not have to build anything. you buy an adapta plug plug cable and 2 tips. the tips slide right into the cable. see pics

Seriously it couldn't be much easier, no need for a custom cable. Read this thread: http://taperssection.com/index.php/topic,20671.0.html And this one: http://taperssection.com/index.php/topic,19772.msg254608.html#msg254608

I had ed make me one a few months ago.  I would have done it myself but I wanted 3 adapters on the DVD side going into one on the R4.  Wanted to make sure it was made sturdy so it would last for years.  That way I can hook up a few batteries at festivals and not have to worry about changing batteries all day.  The cable is very well made and Ed did it for a very reasonable price.
