48V Phantom XLR to mini 9V adaptor for you plug-in mics
« on: September 28, 2007, 02:48:41 PM »
Naiant PFA Phantom Adaptor for Stereo Plug-in Power Microphones, $55

Use any stereo plug-in power microphone with a standard professional microphone preamplifier! Requires phantom power; supplies +9V to plug-in power microphone.

Using the PFA

The PFA is a phantom-power adaptor for plug-in power mics, which enables the mics to be connected to standard professional microphone preamplifiers. The PFA supplies the appropriate voltage to the plug-in power microphones, and provides a balanced, low impedance output to the microphone preamplifier.

The left and right channels of the PFA operate independently, so phantom power must be supplied to both channels for stereo operation.

The PFA supplies +9V across 4.7KΩ resistors to each microphone channel. The PFA requires +24V to +48V phantom power to operate; lower voltages may work with reduced voltage supply to the microphones.

It is a new product.  Check out the Update from Niant Studios thread. User name mshilarious......  He was offering to float the prototype as loaner fro impressions a few weeks ago.

Maybe you could jump in and provide the first review?

Joe

I just ordered a pair. Thanks for the heads up. I didn't even realize that Naiant was already on here. Will give everyone a full report when I run them with CA cards/omnis.

What type of preamp will you run this with?  I have a digimod UA-5 and iriver 140 that this could be sweet with.
+t for for forging new ground....
