Topic: Help! Tascam HS-P82

It pains me to think about this at all, but recently finance meetings held within the house (I'm a non-voting member) have indicated current appropriations have in fact exceeded budget. As much as I would love to be just like the US Government (not one party's fault, so please don't start that battle here), I may have to considered selling this here tascam.

Any reasons plausible enough to provide to the chairman of the finance committee (if you're not married you don't know who this person is) to validate keeping the unit (the chairman understands the importance of recording in my life)?

I will still need 4 channels and can use a pre-amp to power the other two channels (i.e. 744). What are my options?

I love my HS-P82 and I find my self needing the 4-6 good pre-amps that are all the same so I can run comparisons on my recordings.


Presently the value of a used HS-P82 has dropped to around $2K as the many vendors are offering new ones for $2399 or less nowadays - believe it or not.


A used 744 runs about $1800-2000 nowadays - so to swap a HS-P82 down to a 744t makes no financial sense at present - only if your looking for a smaller form factor with out the 8 channels does it make sense.


You could consider a R-44 which seem to sell for less than $600 used on ebay nowadays or even a DR-680 which sell new ofr less than $450 and used between $350-400  -> These options don't have as good of pre-amps but they are not all that bad.

Trey, just state the facts. Tell the Finance Chairman that its value depreciated so rapidly that it wouldnt make financial sense to sell it so cheap. So you might as well keep it
