Title: Life expectancy for a battery box?
Post by: kylieshotpants on April 16, 2017, 07:07:57 AM
Hi

Is there an expected life cycle for battery box's? - I use Church Audio Bat 2B – Battery Box (https://www.church-audio.com/shop/battery-boxes/bat-2b-battery-box/) and it stopped working last night- emitting a high pitch tone in one channel.  (same thing happend to the last one but over a few shows)

I am on my 2nd battery box- tapping 560 shows between the the two of them (always in stealth mode)- would it be prudent to retire them after 250 uses say?

Anyone have much better usage/tips to extend use?

Thanks

When it "dies" do you test it at home and confirm the issue?
What I'm getting at is perhaps it's some sort of interference your experiencing and not the box itself dying???

Hi

Yes I do tests at home, the first one, I thought is was everything but the battery box - changed microphones, leads.  This 2nd one, there is no power going to the mics now just a hum on the left channel.

I'm on maybe 500+ shows (8 years) to an Sound Pros box. It needed a new cable at maybe 200 shows ago, Sound Pros fixed it easy (and for free!!). I have a CA Ugly box as a back up. Boy. it is UGLY all right.
