I just got one of these (http://www.amazon.com/Anker-10000mAh-Multi-Voltage-Camcoders-Recorders/dp/B005NGKR54/ref=cm_cmu_pg__header&tag=613240924-20) which is from the same manufacturer, but 14400mAh instead of 10000mAh for $59.99. It just arrived over the weekend and I haven't had a chance to do a test run with it yet. Unfortunately, the one I bought is not currently available on Amazon. There's another thread in this forum (http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=152998.0) that discusses the 10000 even though the OP's link re-directs to the 14400. Looks like there haven't been any complaints on it so far from the people that have used it for powering gear.
1.0 out of 5 stars DC Power Output Defective by Design, April 18, 2013By Tus-Chan - See all my reviewsAmazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)This review is from: Anker Astro3 10000mAh Multi-Voltage (5V 9V 12V) Output Portable Power Pack External Battery Charger for iPads, Samsung Tablets, iPhones, Android Smart Phones, Camcoders, Digital Cameras / DV Recorders (Dual USB Output: 5V, 2A; DC Output: 9V / 12V, 2A) [12 connectors for mobile phones, 6 connectors for tablets, US AC adapter included] (Wireless Phone Accessory)I bought this battery with the intention of powering a 12VDC 400mA desktop headphone amplifier portably instead of being chained to a wall wart. Unfortunately, the first time I tried to use the amplifier with the battery, the battery malfunctioned and, as I found out later, completely fried my amplifier. I have taken this amplifier to multiple electricians and none of them have even the slightest clue as to how this battery managed to destroy my device.I have contacted Anker in hopes of finding a resolution to my problem, but they refuse to provide me any compensation or service simply because I made my purchase from Amazon. They also revealed to me that the DC output is defective in that it cannot, under any circumstances, provide any power to a device that is not also battery-powered, which is, frankly, ludicrous. In short, do not buy this product if you are intending to use it to power a device without a battery, or if you aren't willing to play Russian Roulette with the DC output.
