Hi everyone.
I have been having some issues with my 480s at the connection point when plugging in the XLR cables. It's so bad, I actually thought I blew out my pre... Then I switched out every cable in my rig thinking it was a bad cable. I even borrowed a buddy's 722, when I realized it was the mics. I switched out the mics to an older pair I own, and NO porblems.
What seems to be the issue is when the mics are plugged in, both channels have horrible hums, blow outs, and pops. It literally sounded like my left channel was blown out. The only remedy to this situation is to use duct tape to secure the connection. Not sure if anyone else has ever had to deal with this, and if so, what is the best route to fix this? Do the male connectors need cleaned? Is there someone on TS that fixes these? And if the fix is expensive, would it be cheaper to chop them down into actives?
Thanks in advance for any help. This has got me worried... Cheers!
