qBittorrent v3.3.15
« on: August 05, 2017, 12:51:05 PM »
So I updated this a day or two ago based on the program informing me that an update was available.

Now about every 120 seconds is pings 144.76.43.107 from an outbound port.  Each time it does so the port number increases by one digit.  Malwarebytes tipped me off and is continuing to block it.  Anyone have an idea why it is doing this?  It never did this before the update.

Well, I can't say I know what the updated version of qBittorrent is doing, but your detective work suggests that the update should be considered suspicious.

that web address resolves to an unconfigured nginx server in germany.

I would not use this software, look at the list of bugs they just fixed in the previous update, it looks like a huge mess!

It worked like a dream until a few days ago.  I abandoned utorrent a while back.  Malwarebytes blocks the download URL for utorrent anyway.  So I am left with only Deluge or Vuze running a PC?

I started to install Vuze and Avast blocked www.cloud-down-loader.com on the install.  I tried again and it worked fine but wtf is going on with clients?

Thanks for the info, ripi, I use qb myself and won't do this update. By the way, if you ever get it running correctly, there is a checkbox in the settings that will shut off the update notifications. Can you delete it and return to a previous version?

I've been using Tixati on PC, although not all trackers necessarily accept it. Dime does.

Possibly but look at that bug log I am not sure I want to roll it back.  Do you know if Etree trackers allow it?  I have been banned from Dime for years and primarily use bt.etree.org

Head's up to those that install, or plan to install Vuze.  As noted above it tried to install something malicious according to Avast.  On the 2nd attempt it appeared to roll fine but succeeded to install adware of some kind called Webdiscover Browser

uTorrent 2.2.1 was the last version without the malware issues. I reverted to that old version a while back and haven't had any issues in Win 10.

Ugh, back to 2.2.1 it is.  I had problems with it when I first went to Win10 so we will see how it does.

The GUI became a little wonky, but the functionality is there. Admittedly though, I haven't been torrenting much these days but I haven't encountered any issues thus far.

This is far and away the best torrent client I've used:
