Ethernet cable for music?

When I had a Squeezebox I used a Ethernet cable from my music server to the SB and coax out to my DAC. I always assumed it passed 24 bit but never knew for sure.  :facepalm: The SB is gone and I’m wondering if I can still use the Cat6 cable with some kind of coax adapter and run that into the 902’s coax in or xlr in. Will this pass 24 bit if I can find the right converter/adapter?

You can't simply adapt an ethernet cable to output music. You need some sort of device that decodes the data sent over the ethernet cable to music. Your Squeezebox seems to have served that purpose.

A small computer like a Raspberry PI could do the trick. But they don't have SP/DIF outs, so you will have to convert the HDMI output to whatever output format you prefer.

But to answer your other question: Yes, the Cat6 cable (and even Cat5) should "pass" 24 bit files just fine.

Actually, there are some HATS (e.g. the Digi+) for the Raspberri PI that have S/PDIF outs.
The question is whether they're worth the money.
