Yes, that is certainly one way to go. Before buying this, check the price of qty 2 AT853Rx. Those are $150 each? How much is the phantom option? The other thing is to buy a miniplug version now and send it back for a phantom mod later.
What kind of recorder have you got?
What kind of music are you recording? If it is heavy rock/metal or whatever, you'll probably overload.
Check out the other threads. Try a search on "at853" and "phantom". That should get some hits.

well, all together those 3 things from sound professionals come to $550 (mics = $200, phantom adapter kit = $100, phantom power supply = $250)... which is more than i want to spend. I am shocked that the power supply is more expensive than the mics. Is there anywhere on the net I can get one for cheaper or used?
Im using my iRiver to record and its mainly rock music and live hip hop bands (such as The Roots). Loud music for sure.
