'Need some dimensions on the TLs, Please
« on: March 07, 2006, 03:11:52 PM »
I'm thinking of rolling up to some ADK 51 TLs and have a question about size... other than bigger is better.

If I get a matched pair they come w/super mounts, which I gather provide a fixed mount within the suspension system with respect to the stand mount.  (They can't slide up and down in the shock system.)  This is important to understand because I want to modify a Shure vert bar to run the TLs nose to nose X-Y or Blumlein.  If you have a pair of TLs oriented head to head in the super mounts, what's the distance that you end up with, mount to mount, when the super mounts are spaced this way?

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps this will be easier to understand.  The distance between the super shock mounts for AKD 51 TL mics configured this way is what?  The yellow pointing fingers approximate the location of the mounting lugs on the vert bar.

I've already made extensions for my SP C3 mics but will want to be able to accomodate the less flexible nature of the super mount system that comes w/the TLs

Thanks for the help.

Thanks, Andrew

Your pic is all I need if indeed you need 24cm/8" of extension to run 51 TLs in this fashion... that's what I was afraid of >:(  After making a 6" extension I started to wonder if it was going to be long enough.

I see that your end nut for the Shure does not seem to be punctured so you must be on the right track.

Let me know, please if I've misinterpreted anything from your picture.  I would still like to know what the distance is when the vert bar is fully extended to mount the mics.  Measure twice, cut once!

Thanks  & +T
