i exclusively use the genuine np-f970's and with the exception of one dud i got on eBay that wouldn't take a charge I have had Zero problems with them fitting properly

consider yourself fortunate!  :)

FWIW, the genuine npf-970 i got on ebay has worked out GREAT in batt runtimes, running line in from the v3/no backlight/headphones ON/writing ONLY to the HD/2496 i get about 9 solid hours, so thats whats up ;D
