I just got this and it works fantastic.  A bit expensive, but I really like it a lot.  Shipping is way expensive at $10 though.

4AA battery power unit with a regulator circuit switch to supply a constant 5v output to the device, regardless of lithium, rechargeable, or alkaline batteries. - $20

Retractable male USB > USB mini cable to connect the above battery supply to the device - $20
dpa 4061 > Church Audio 9200 > Sony PCM-D50 (Moon Audio Silver Dragon v3 interconnect)

radio shack has them for $35 i believe.
i know ive seen them.

just search around for ipod battery packs.
