Beautiful. The FZ1000 has a great 1" sensor. And it shows!

The last Lumix camera I had (it's been a few years - a 720p model) did the exact same thing whenever I zoomed in or out - it momentarily went out of focus.  This always bothered me, so I went with Sony cams instead.  I'm really interested in getting a 4K camera, and this FZ1000 footage looks amazing during the static parts.  But I'm concerned about the momentary out of focus thing and I saw in comments for one of the videos that you said blur was caused by bass rattle of the image stabilization system.  I didn't think that would happen while the camera is hand-held because your body would absorb the bass.  So unless your somewhere where the bass actually shakes the structure on which you're standing, you should be able to avoid that bass rattle.  It sounds like you're saying it shakes the camera's image stabilization and there's nothing you can do about that (i.e., tripod, cushioned base, etc.).

Also - the Streets footage was overexposed when you were zoomed out.  How easy/difficult is it controlling the exposure with the FZ1000?

I never shoot handheld, always monopod/lap or some other system
The FZ1000 does loose focus when you zoom at objects a long distance away
The Bass 'rattle' I refer to only happened at LA2 and was caused by excessively loud bass
ALOT of times the footage over exposed(even if only slightly), even shooting at -3 exposure, your options are limited in 4k movie mode

So are you saying you can't adjust the Gain (ISO) manually while filming?

yes, you can very easily.

in 4k you have an exposure control knob that you can adjust during filming.

That's a great feature that I don't know is available in many (any?) other cameras.  I googled for this to read more about it, but not surprisingly, almost everything you can find is about still photos and not video.

When you adjust the exposure on the fly, is it easy to see the exposure change as you click the knob up or down?  How easy is it to make exposure changes on the fly?  It's a fairly critical function to have when you are zooming in and out because people (performers on stage) tend to become over-exposed when you zoom out.

Can you adjust the focus manually while filming?

I found this U2 was tougher on exposure than some other shows of late. At time Bono was lit really hard when everyone else was fine.

Which is exactly why I like being able to adjust exposure on the fly  ;D

Exactly, Bono was overlit 90% of the time

Randy:  There is a dial to the right of the view finder that is used to adjust shutter or exposure in 4k IA mode, you can set the on lens dial to adjust focus.

Two new dogs in the 4K race......

The RX10 has, at least to me, the PERFECT flip out screen for what we do. This sounds exciting.

a nice camera indeed!
the main angle in this video is from that camera:

I don't like the look of straight video cameras
the FZ1000 is the best camera at the moment for concert recordings IMHO

I bought a Sony AX100 a few weeks ago.  I shot video of the kids playing at a riverside park with lots of birds flying around and trees swaying in wind in the background.  In spite of all the movement and content in the picture - the video is freakishly good.  Even if  you can't do anything with 4K video (yet), get a 4K video capable camera or videocam so you'll have the footage in the future.

How does your computer handle the 4k footage?I remember when HD first came out editing was a nightmare. Are you using Vegas?

I use Vegas Pro 13.  I encoded (down-converted) a short clip to 1080p on my laptop (which is a fairly powerful laptop) and it went smoothly.  I watched the raw video clips that were still on the SD card and VLC seem to be the best player for this.

Windows Media Player is my best friend for playing 4k mp4 files :) VLC has been a nightmare for me. As for editing, rendering in FULLHD goes as smooth as fullhd input, but I still can't get the right 4k template for youtube (insisting for 35mbits, 25p) but there is no such custom profile possible in Vegas Pro. Anyone had better experiences than me (maybe even in Premiere Pro?)

I finally got to filming with the FZ1000 !!! I am really amazed, the shows I taped were strobe lighted and shittily lit (Architects), but others were also very well lit (Parkway Drive, Slipknot).

I may have messed up synching audio at These Color Don't Run and some of the Parkway Drive videos due to hard struggle with synching in Premiere Pro due to my notebook having much struggle with playing back 4k files yet :p But Slipknot went much smoother and I found a way to render samples the best way possible as of now.

Check out samples here:
Architects:
Broken Cross: https://youtu.be/T7-YHYcChio
These Colors Don't Run: https://youtu.be/ARzvz636wFM

Parkway Drive:
Dark Days: https://youtu.be/lqdwfGN2Q90
Dedicated: https://youtu.be/7rDEd__V0Ao
Bottom Feeder: https://youtu.be/jD7mTSQDNqU
Home Is For The Heartless: https://youtu.be/mvAO6kyzPqk

Also got a small clip from Thy Art Is Murder:
Holy War (part): https://youtu.be/xXT9n38Bcng

And here is Slipknot:
Eyeless: https://youtu.be/q9kiQaXw3uo
Skeptic / I Am Hated: https://youtu.be/ilY49v7enPE
The Devil In I: https://youtu.be/q8OegdIAwC8
Surfacing: https://youtu.be/LqhPnE17taU
Left Behind: https://youtu.be/QprEKLnZ3pw

I want to point out that these were my first 2 concerts and therefore I am still testing settings.

Audio comes from my AT853 lowsensmod > Sony PCM-M10 gear!

I also havent done any grading yet, but I made sure the luminance level is 0-255 to be able to grade it the most possible.
Used manual settings in Standard mode and ISO manually switched from 125-400, the lights at Muse were AMAZING. Wish I could get another Muse show to tape soon :(
