Mini Me Calibration with the V2
« on: March 09, 2007, 01:15:43 PM »
A friend of mine wants to use my V2 with his Mini-Me this weekend.  Can someone tell me where to set the jumpers on the Mini-Me for proper gain structure?  Mics are ADK TL'sj but I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

Thanks,
Chris

I don't think the gain range jumpers will matter in that situation.

To run the v2 in front of the minime, you would typically run the minime in line in mode. That means turning down the gain knobs all the way until they click. At that point, gain on the minime is adjusted via the tiny trim screws. Those are 10 turn pots.

He should have it pretty easy with the v2 because he can adjust gain there. The challenge comes with fixed gain preamps and the need to tweak the gain at the minime using a tiny screwdriver.

He will still need to calibrate the trim pots on the minime so they are balanced and as appropriate for the level of hotness he will run the v2.  I'm really not sure what is optimal there.  Once calibrated for the v2 at a particular level, the trim pots should not need further adjustment.

Thanks for the info, Freelunch.  I would think that stock line-in would be the way to go.  Even if the gain adjustment was a little off in the Mini-Me, it could be dealt with by the V2's trim pots.

I had reasonably good luck with this method when I ran V2 > GP ADC20...
