Anyone running AKG 451/460 with a Sonosax?
« on: November 02, 2005, 11:27:09 PM »
I'm having some major issues with gear for some reason.  TWO pairs of AKG 451E don't seem to play well with the Sonosax - is anyone running 451 or 460 successfully with one?  I'm getting a lot of little pops and clicks, throughout the recordings.

I've also got a UA5 that's currently in the Mod Shop (!) so maybe that will remedy the problem, but I can't figure out what might be causing it?  The Sax has always been beautiful and has had only Schoeps or Neumanns plugged into it until recently.  Maybe that's it?  The Swiss and the Austrians are incompatible?

Also, the Sax batteries go to fast blink after about an hour, which to me seems to indicate some kind of voltage issue?

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for any insight.
Dirk

I've been running 460s>sonosax for 4 years without problems.  Good ol' energizer 9 volts are usually good for at least four hours...three before the fast blinking starts.  Are you using the XLR or mini out?

Actually I've been using the 1/8 output to the Echo Indigo card since I sold my VX Pocket...

In all the years I've owned the Sonosax, I've only recently been using the 1/8...it's always been fine in the past, but it's always been the XLRs too...

Hmmmmm
