Seriously, you went out of your way to accommodate him, screw him.  The last big trade I did was years ago with Sarah Baucco and we did something like a 120 CDR trade and it was smooth sailing.

I hope the dude isn't on this board or else he should feel embarrassed.
Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it’s worth.

I don't trade anymore either.  Haven't updated a public trade list
in about 5 years.  When it got to be more of a job than a hobby,
I stopped.  I used to do 50-100 cdr disc trades with a few guys
that were across the pond and got some good stuff in return.

'bout the only audio cds I burn anymore are for the owner and/or
soundman at the local club and of course some bands that have
allowed me to record.

I never really had a bad trade except one time where I mixed up what I was supposed to send 1 guy and sent him a bunch of SCI he had no interest in that were supposed to go in for another trade. Then I couldnt find one of the shows I was had that was really the crown jewl of the trade (sbd of TOO from Fiddlers Green I think). I was emabrased and made up for it by giving the guy another spindle of shows, but I totally blew that one. I got DSL right after that and havent traded since.

I do miss checking the mail these days though. My best mail days (sans tix arriving) are days where my netflix comes. Not the same as seeing the bubble mailer and wondering what was inside.

I'm retired from trading too, started to be too much work without the enjoyment it once was.
Bit Torrent really changed everything for me.
Got most of my trading partners/taping friends to join the Dime and now i seed instead of mail. So do they.

There are a few exceptions like a couple of old dinosaur tapers i know (that don't have computers)
and copies sent to the bands i record. I still don't mind doing a b/p for Allman's etc once in a while.
It's a relief not having to maintain a list anymore.

I quit CDr trades a long time ago when I ended up getting a lot of discs converted from mp3s :angry3: As for DVDs, receiving a show converted from Divx put the end to that!
Pretty much torrents only now, unless you can hook up with someone who doesn't mp3/divx! But like others, it seems too much effort ripping/burning/testing/packaging/queuing @ PO.

Ed, maybe you're like me...you're up to date as of a couple years ago...have every intention of someday sitting around and updating it again for posterity's sake...never will.

Actaully, I did include all of my commercial stuff in my list along with photos of my shelves and cases of CDs and DVDs purchased over the years in case I ever need to make an insurance claim, although that reminds me that I keep wanting to call my insurance guy to ask if I need to put my music collection in as a rider on our homeowners policy since it the most valuable thing I own.  So, I THINK I have reason to keep this portion of the list updated.

I limit trades to about 10 shows.  Period.  If it goes well, we'll do more.  Most of my trade request want audio disks, which I basically refuse to do.  OK, sometimes I relent.  I do remember when I was just starting out trading.

My list is at http://db.etree.org/mylibbydog

I don't trade dvd's as for many people have problems playing them!

I just do about 12 disc trades if someone need any of my shows!I like to get out of the house so I do mail trades only ;) No mp3 crap trades and not worried about burning flac files just Wav music on cdrs!I don't ask to trade but I will help anyone that need something I have, then I will trade.

I still trade via mail.  There is still something special about getting a bubble mailer in the mail.  I've never turned down a trade and still search etree for new trades.  Most of what I listen to isn't "open taping".

Mako

anyone open for a snail mail trade?

I still enjoy snail mail enormously.

3 or 4 packages a week are despatched containing shows for bands, other UK tapers, or the rare trade or freebie.

B&Ps always accepted - my limit is generally four discs. My website list is not updated often but my likes are heavy rock/classic rock/glam rock and occasional indie/folk artists, so this is what I tape.

I receive maybe one package every couple of weeks in return. Suits me fine as I spend most of my "trading" time working on my own recordings.
