battery powered pre-amp
« on: March 20, 2011, 11:16:26 PM »
I figured having a battery powered pre amp would make things MUCH easier in setting up anywhere I want. What are people running here in terms of battery powered pre amps?

I imagine something similiar to this would be best. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/USBDualPrePS/

I guess i'm just more worried about the battery life being long enough so I'm not trying to switch batteries all the time.

For what mics?
And what type of music will you be taping?
If it's mini-mics, search on Church Audio or Sound Professionals.
UK based taper: MK4>Nbox Platinum>PCM-M10

^^ The USBpre2 is only powered by EXTERNAL battery - through the USB jack.  I'm not sure whether the OP wanted something that was self-contained and didn't require an external batt.  If you're talking about pres that don't require an external battery, there is the SD MixPre, although from what I understand, it really needs external power to get enough run time.   Of battery operated pres that get decent run times off of a single charge to an internal or off of 9v batts, the littlebox, Aerco MP-2, Oade 248 are the first that come to mind, with the littlebox being far cheaper.
Mics: Schoeps MK4V, MK41V, MK5, MK22> CMC6, KCY 250/5, KC5, NBob; MBHO MBP603/KA200N, AT 3031, DPA 4061 w/ d:vice, Naiant X-X, AT 853c, shotgun, Nak300
Pres/Power: Aerco MP2, tinybox v2  [KCY], CA-UBB
