Title: Audacity adding diginoise to files?
Post by: Nick Graham on July 22, 2007, 01:19:45 AM
Below is a screenshot of the same mono wave file opened twice in Audacity and again in Spark XL.

Notice the clipping (which is a brief burst of static) is in different places each time in Audacity, but not present at all in Spark.

Any ideas?

I never experienced this when I was using Audacity.

This looks like an OS X hiccup... it's not Audacity doing it. Do you have any word clock or lack of word clock issues going on. I know when I am in Bias Peak do a long bounce or filter, and then I also try to do some other "audio" anything in the background, I get very similar random clips that look exactly the same as your screenshot... which makes me think it is OS X related.

Do you have any audio Firewire devices connected when you did the tests?

If you have other audio Firewire devices that are not sync'd (to a word clock or to the internal Mac word clock) they try to sync every 10-20 secs. When it tries to sync... that is when you get a clip.
