DiscWelder Bronze
« on: January 19, 2005, 09:32:14 AM »
Anybody using this product on either a PC or Mac?

I started using the Mac version and so far haven't had much luck with it. First it didn't recognize the DVR-108 that was installed in my computer (Minnetonka has asked Gear about this one), then once I re-installed the DVR-105 that came in my G4, it has burned more coasters than anything else. In fact I have only been able to burn 1 show successfully, and that was on a piece of media that came with my Mac from Apple. This leads me to wonder if DWB is more picky about the media than other applications which can copy and verify these same types of discs without any problems.

Don't know I've had my 1.0 version for about a week now. However, right now it certainly hasn't lived up to it's claim of being an easy product. I can also tell this is was a very quick port of the product. Very PC centric way of handling certain things (and the graphics scream windows ... Don't take that the wrong way Windows folks, but there has always been a major difference in the way PC and Mac folks drew icons/UI interface icons).

I've been using Discwelder Bronze on my Win XP machine, and I've had no trouble.  it immediately recognized my external usb2 HP burner, and I haven't burned a single coaster.  I've been using it for the past 4 months or so.  in that time, I've used two different brands of "-R" media.  this probably isn't helping too much, but just wanted to chime in as a successful user.

I'm on XP using an NEC dual layer DVD burner in an external usb2 box.  No problems whatsoever.
