Title: Monitoring outgoing OS sounds in Windows XP?
Post by: sleepypedro on August 20, 2008, 07:54:57 AM
is there a handy tool to do realtime monitoring on *any* program accessing the sound outputs within the OS?

i've got a very minimal OS installation going with all system sounds turned off, according to control panel and the registry... yet something is making a little swishing notification sound.  i can't pin it down to get rid of it and it's driving me crazy.  the thing is it's seemingly prompted randomly or i'd obviously be able to pin it down to one process or another.

so... i'd like to watch anything making a request of the sound stack to play anything through the speakers.

does such a tool exist?
