Thinking about these mics.  I only heard a lot of dead tapes with them.  How well do they pair up with today's rigs?  thoughts

Those mics are great for the money for sure.  And it just so happens I have a set of 3 I want to sell. With 3 Cardioid and 3 Omni caps and windscreens and original foam lined box of course for $300.

Yessir, best bang for the buck... I got mine BECAUSE of all the tasty GD 80's  tapes out there. it was the sound I knew I wanted when I started out, regardless of the newer junk. (which very little has impressed me much) I give exception to Neumann km100's, DPA 4022's, but that's a whole other ballpark.
They're good mics, and at good prices these days. Was lucky enough to scoop my pair up for 300 including CP-2 and 4 caps.. Spent another 60 for a MX-100, 25 extra for the center channel mod and couldn't be happier (till i have the bread for some active km140's)... I'd take 3 big ones and look into Mr. Utah's offer. Hey, they're practically vintage so you can get that money back when, or if you decide to sell.. ?

I love my Nak's.  Affordable & available.

What is the center channel mod for the MX100??  I now run a Wmod UA-5, but still have the MX100.

i beleve you can also get shotgun caps for those ... should you want them
ADK A-51s LE's > Oade W-mod UA-5 > Zoom H4n Pro if I bother to drag out a full rig. More often just the H4N Pro. My LMA tapes

I had a resistor put in to bring it down to line level.. now it's good for the sbd feed. I like to call it the "ghetto mixer".

Hey, Im kind of looking at these too, as Ive heard from some people that they are just as good as the 391s. Does anyone know of any shows for download with them? I saw all the stuff on the archive, but that stuff doesnt sound any better than the stuff Ive recorded with the Superlux, so Im wondering if there are any shows out there in BT or on a searver w/ the NAKs. Im wondering if they'd be worth it, or if I should wait and save up and get somthing a little more expensive... thanks!

I ran NAk 300's for 10 months and liked them fine...
Never ran the CP-2 caps (omni) only CP-1 (card). I only used the bassrolloff once and wish I used it more often.. got some bass heavy recs with them, but nothing eq in post couldn't fix.
I have one show I did with them that I prefer over a Gefell tape of the same band.

Yes, Naks make nice tapes. I bought Mike's and ran them for a bit. Prior I ran c1000s, Nice step up IMHO. I sold them to co-own gear with Cervin. There are pretty straight forward mics.
