Title: Is [insert misc. pre-amp here] > UA-5 possible?
Post by: §†∑∫åµÞ≥¥ on February 26, 2005, 01:32:13 PM
I was thinking of trying it out with an MV100 > rca-out > UA-5 but not sure if (a) it would work or (b) it would make a difference. Anybody ever tried this? Is it possible to bypass the UA-5 pre and just use the A/D? Just looking for something different. :) Thanks.

Edited to make more sense: MV100 (rca-out) > UA-5

You could try MV100 > XLR-in UA5 and it might work.  MV100 > RCA-in UA5 would *definitely* work.  I haven't tried it so I don't know if it would make a big difference, but...give it a go and let us know!

the mv-100 outputs unbalanced rca, so it would be really easy to go in rca on the ua5.

Both will work but you're probably better going into the rear inputs.  I think there's no gain and fewer caps in the path.
