Anyone seen one of these yet? It's a shame but it looks like it has no DC power input. :-\

Looks nice, but a little large for the field, and no DC in. Also, how would you calibrate those meters for the digital realm?
-
purdy!

Man I bet that thing with a DAC1 would be awesome.

If you use the DAC-1 as an ADC you'll need to reverse the power connections ;D
I'm guessing that you meant this badboy, the ADC-1:

Yeah thats what i meant. ;D That would be a killer combo.

I have been eying up this Pre and their ADC1. Would have pulled the trigger on the ADC1 if it was DC powered....
I talked to Rory at Benchmark about this and he said that during their research they came to the conclusion that most people who would be using the unit in the field would have access to ac power, so they went that route. He said a mod to convert to DC was not possible.

Nothing is impossible.
Many things, however, are very very difficult...

:hmmm:
thoughts?

DC>AC Inverter ? I just couldnt see opening the thing up to mod it. It's too purdy! ;D

what's the big deal about the ADC1 ??
if you want a nice, clean, smooth A/D converter from Benchmark, why not just go with the AD2k+ and not deal with power inverters and all that jazz...
that pre1, though, I bet it's sweet. too bad that isn't DC powered...

The thing I really like about the ADC1 (over the AD2K+) are the input level pots. They can be set to calibrated or variable - nice flexibility for running different pre's (V2 variable, PSP-2 fixed, sort of, no trim pots) and the ability to utilize different sample rates/bit depths via the main and aux outputs. And, FWIW, that FSD meter can not be beat (but we do have that with the AD2K :))....
It also has gain settings of 0dB, 10dB, and 20dB. Have not heard it yet - but def seems like the one to beat...
