I think i know but can you just take 2 of those at853 power supplies(running two caps) and make a y cable into a single 1/8 plug and go line in or would it be better to go mic in into say a PMD620 or R-09hr?

Technically, there's nothing stopping you from going line in. If the signal is hot enough, that'll be the best option.
I never ran the 8531's myself though, maybe others here can tell?

If you find that the signal is low, you'll have to switch to mic-in (noisier) or throw a preamp into the chain.

Probably better off using some line transformers if you want to run line in without using a preamp.

I used to run this with good success:

AT853 > Samson PM4 > Denecke PS-2 > Hosa MIT-176 > Sony SBM-1 (line in) > NJB3

It just became too much stuff to keep up with. I now run AT853 > Samson PM-4 > SD MP-2 > R-09HR
