Next week, I'll record with my new Sony PCM-A10 for the first time. It will also be the first time that I'll have to check the levels, having only recorded in 32bit float so far. My setup will be this: SP-CMC-4U (4.7k mod) > 9V battery box > PCM-A10. I will record in audio-in mode and manual gain of course. It's an acoustic but amplified show in a venue for ca. 1000 people, I plan to be close to the stage/stacks.
For those who have experience in recording with the PCM-A10, which gain setting would you start the recording in? I think one can adjust the gain from 0-30.

My usual setting for loud music (just on the verge of needing earplugs) with similar mics is 10 for omni caps and 14 for cards. "Acoustic but amplflied" you could probably push it a bit more.
