Title: TSKB: Best Free Software for Recording Webstream?

Looking to capture some webstream this weekend. Last time, I messed it all up. Wondering what other folks have used...

Also, how do you know what format, bitrate the stream is? Is it all mp3?

Streamwriter will capture MP3 or MP4 streams if you have a link to drag to the media player of your choice:

Download helper extension for Firefox is pretty good at capturing streams embedded in flash:

I've had great experiences with Wire Tap Pro for recording webstreams.  It's not free, but there's an unlimited trial if I remember correctly.

I ended up using aTube Catcher. Once I got it set up right, it worked well.

Ditto for WTP...although one time I wasn't going to be near the computer so I tried to used the timer and it didn't work....probably user error if I had to guess.

im also looking to capture the video as well as the audio stream
doesnt look like wire tap does that
seem like only audio
