« on: February 04, 2004, 10:45:21 AM »
ssia. Paul at Prodig has a ton of refurbed 3700's and one 3800 for $349. A buddy who is a trashcan da-p1 unidecker wants to get a home deck, any thoughts on the panasonic? Thanks, Marc.

Those are good decks. We use the 3800 to master DATS at work. The 3800 has balanced ins/out. The 3700 are unbalanced.
Reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one.

3800 is a sweet deck. highly recommend it... definitely a step up from the da20mkii.
I’ve had a few weird experiences and a few close brushes with total weirdness of one sort or another, but nothing that’s really freaked me out or made me feel too awful about it. - Jerry Garcia

Plus, the 3700/3800 has a great D/A converter.  Definitely one of  the best quality D/A built into  a home DAT deck, and undoubtedly a big step up from the D/A in a DA20MKII.
Only negative with the 3800 (and I believe the 3700) is that the transport is engaged whenever the deck is on - i.e., whenever you leave the deck on, you are putting hours on the heads - so if you're not using it - turn it off!
Also - I'd check the hours count on the heads before purchasing.  Its easy to do on the 3800.
