Any thoughts on this combo? JW Mod AKG 460's > Oade ACM Mod PMD671
« on: September 12, 2006, 11:14:07 AM »
I was wondering if anyone has any experience or opinions on running JW Mod AKG 460's > Oade ACM Mod PMD671.

I have listened to alot of show with the ACM Mod PMD671 on the LMA, but have not found any shows paired with the JW Mod AKG's.

IMO the JW mods are a little bright and benefit from the sound of a warmer (transformer based) pre. How would you describe the sonic characteristics of the ACM671? Would this be a good pairing?

Would be nice to have an all in one box on certain occasions.

Paging Leehookem.  I think he ran my JW Mods with his 671 while his 480's were being serviced.

I like the sound of my AKG C-480> ACM 671 rig. I wouldn't call it warm though.
Funny that you mention transformers, since the C-460's are transformer coupled. The mod JW removes the transformers.
I bet the mod C-460's> ACM 671 would sound good.

That would be great! Please PM me if and when you have a chance to do this. It would be greatly appreciated.
