Alesis HD24

After searching for Alesis HD24, and reading a few scattered comments in non-Alesis threads, I was wondering whether anyone had some cogent thoughts to share with a new owner of an HD24?

I run a Peavey 12-track board and an Onyx 1640 and do a lot of live multitracks. This is my solution to running firewire from the Onyx to a laptop.

Any suggestions or tips appreciated ...

I've been running an HD24 for over 3 years. I love it. I run 3 presonus digimax96's into it via lightpipe. And yes, get the fireport, it'll save you a ton of time...

Yes.. do yourself a favor and enroll in the Yahoo HD24 group. The user there, "Marc Brevoort" is nothing short of a genius when it comes to that machine.....He was a saint the one(and only) time I had an error . Jim Williams at audio upgrades does a nice modification for the machine too. Youve made a good choice, very, very nice piece of gear.
want to also chime in for the fireport..

We've got 2 HD24s and the Studio Projects SP828 Preamps/mixers in our multitrack rig as well and we love it!   The Presonus Digimax are nice too for the lightpipe feature but the Studio Projects allow us to scrap the mixer for dumping to 2 track on the fly.  PM me for any questions and definitely join that HD24 yahoo group.
