I would imagine AES > COAX would work just fine

I think i would try that until i was comfortable with USB on a phone or on the newer SDii units which can accept USB audio

thing looks awesome. being able to configure the knobs and gang the pre-amp gain is cool

Wish they could have squeezed in 2 x 18650 batteries instead of one  - He said only 3 hours of operation per charge

If it will record to an iPhone, then an iPod Touch should do the trick.

so can this do 4 separate channels? (mic in + AES?) it shows 4 channel levels on pg 14 of the manual, but pg 20 and 21 suggest it works as a mixer only to 2-ch output.

can phones/lineout/aes out/usb out have different inputs routed to each??

"An embedded digital matrix allows any input to be routed to any output or to an internal stereo mixer."

"old and in the way" have you figured out what external battery that you're going to use with this pre for recording times exceeding the estimated "3 hour" limit on the internal battery?  Mine arrived yesterday and I look forward to giving it a spin soon...
