Also, what is it about the R1 and R09 that makes them fair replacements for an a/d? Finally, is the Korg MR1 another solid replacement for an a/d? If so, which of these three units is the best?
any of the three you just mentioned to 24 bit recording and 16 bit recording
r09= up to 24 bit 48kHz
r01= up to 24 bit 44.1kHz
korg= up to 24 bit 192kHz(i think)
all three of these units also record to flash media. the r01 and r09 would immediately fit into your current rig nicely. to use the korg piece you will need to fashion cables terminating to 1/4 inch male. all are great choices and will give you years of pleasure. the sbm is limited to 16 bit. the oade mod units sound fantastic however, you will be unable to record at 24 bit AND you have an extra piece of gear.
Just a couple of corrections - the Korg has a 20 GB HDD, it doesn't use CF cards. Also, the Korg has dual 1/8" inputs, not 1/4".
