Title: Searching an advice SPSB-1>UA-5
Post by: macacopowa on September 13, 2005, 09:01:15 AM
Hi, i have an UA-5. Which i will do the digimod. I'm planning to connect like this:
CMC-2 > SPSB-1 > UA-5 digimod > NJB3
My doubts are between battery box an the UA-5. What is it the best option?

Option 1    SPSB-1>HOSA GMM-303 (3.5mm female to 3.5mm female)>3.5mm male to 2xRCA stereo male

Option 2    Spsb-1>3.5mm female to 2xRCA stereo male

I'm a knoob about cables, all comments are good received. The Hosa is an inconvenient? Better go to simple cable and run?? The cables connection are so important?

Assuiming your battery box has 3.5mm male output, get a cable that has 3.5mm female on one end and two 1/4" mono male plugs on the other.  Plug into the front inputs of your UA-5.  The RCA rear input is not a mic preamp.

mics > battery box > (3.5mm > 2x 1/4" mono) > UA-5 front input

is 3.5mm the same as 1/8"??
this is what i  would do
however i would go 1/8 > dual xlr

The quick answer is yes, they are the same (unless you're digging thru old components for parts, don't worry about it).
Nothing wrong with XLR connectors but because your source is unbalanced, there's no advantage in using the 3-pin XLR connector - you only have 2 connections to make (per channel).  That cable you linked to is too much $, probably because of the XLR connectors.
