I didn't find much on this site about these mics. Anyone have any experience with them?

Intersting that you bring this up.  I was just reading about these mics today.  You don't happen to frequent gearslutz do ya?  ;)

Anyhow, initial things I have read all are good.  I am looking for more info from other engineers, and I'll let you know what I find

I actually noticed a pair of these on Ebay and started reading about them. The response looks good (19-25K)

They are darn cheap on the manufacturers web site - like $650 for a card pair and another $170 for hyper or omni caps. Too bad they don't make active cables. The company is located in Virgina. I wonder if the mics are made in the US or in Japan?

EDIT: The mics are built in the US - with Chinese capsules. I still wonder how they sound.

whoa, this is too weird, i too have been checking these things out the past few days, wtf?  :o

from their web site:

"These capsules are made by Peluso Microphone Lab. We buy the metal work from China and then the sputtering and diaphragm work is done at our lab in the U.S. These are very nice capsules, with great frequency and transient response. These are of the finest quality, and with the costly machine shop work done in China, we can sell them at a fraction of the cost of a comparable German capsule."

Every thread about Peluso's in Gearslutz turn into shit because there's some guy over there w/ a personal grudge against Mr. Peluso, at least it seems to me.  One thread I read was about 5 posts about the mics themselves and about 8 pages of copyright law discussion.  ::)

Soundpure.com still sells them for $255/mic cash.  Shit, I paid 300/mic for mine locally.   I'm picking up the hypers and wide-cards soon.

I've taped two shows w/ them so far.  The 1st was Los Lobos, it sounds a little bright but I've been meaning to bit-torrent it if there's any interest.  Something about the mix that night didn't sound that hot, though.   The 2nd show was DSO; 1st set XY and 2nd set ORTF.  PM me if you want to hear a copy of either show.  Also doing John Popper & friends Thu.

ps. Heath--you have to have one of the coolest jobs on the planet.  Just the intro on the webpage makes me envious.  :D

I can say that I definitely enjoy what I do.  Get to hear a lot of stuff I would never hear otherwise.   ;D

I would LOVE to hear these mics.  I didn't bother reading the posts on gearslutz about them...just saw a recommendation for them in the used gear forum.  Than I read other reviews elsewhere.  What I did see elsewhere, however, was all positive, and I'd love to own another pair of mics with interchangeable caps!!  ;D  At that price point, they could be an option for me.  Let me know what I need to do to grab some of those tapes!!

always graet when you find out there are some brand new microphones on the market. :)

seems like a LOT of companies are going after those vintage neumann/telefunken LD tube designs.  wouldn't mind hearing what those CD condensers sound like as well.  damn good price for sure.
