here is another option for the 406x mics: the dpa mma6000 mic power supply / preamp. It is the sames size as a Sony PCM-M1 dat (the dat deck in the picture that Brian posted).

is this a 48/phantom power?

also what mic in's does it have? from this picture it does not show any mic/xlr inputs.
