Title: Schoeps blumlein in a rycote MS suspension?
Post by: midside on February 22, 2006, 09:42:37 PM
I normally run an MS rig with a rycote suspension in a zepplin.
I found a couple of MK6 caps for a sweet price and was thinking of getting rid of my MK8 to use (2) MK6 caps in the same rycote.
The up-side of this is I can have many options for the field-work that I do. The down-side is the caps will not be perfectly coincident for a blumlein set-up.
I have attached an example of what this would look like (I made it in photoshop, I know the angle on the caps is not correct) and I am wondering if anyone has tried running blumlein like this and what their opinions are.
This would not be used for critical concert-hall recordings, this arrangement would be primarily for use in the field when I find myself in the center of the sound source.  For example, in a street parade or an informal musical gathering.
